Al & Kathy Become Square Dancers
Other than boating, our favorite couples pastime of the last
couple of years has
been to learn square dancing together. It is the most fun you can have in
public, I think. We graduated as Mainstream dancers in March 2005 and
attended our first convention, the National Square Dance Convention, in
June.
I also created the website for our club, SamenaSquares.org.
A little history:
We
were married in June 2003 in Lewis County, Washington where I lived when we
met. We spent our honeymoon in the San Juan Islands while Alex went to
church camp. Then in August the 3 of us spent 4 weeks traveling to San
Francisco, Tokyo, Japan and Honolulu, Hawaii. We had a wonderful time
getting to know each other as a family.
In 2004 our vacations were less dramatic. In September
Al and I drove to Reno for a week, enjoying (mostly) the Street Vibrations which were in town. If
you don't know what that is, check out this photo:

We visited Lava Beds National Monument on the way down. While in Reno we
went to see Al's old grade school. Al tempted me into a game of tetherball
in the school yard.
In December we all went to Ocean Shores, Washington for a
week. We had a nice 2
bedroom condo just 2 blocks from the beach. Alex brought a friend along
for company. We enjoyed the go carts
and bumper cars. Al and I took a day driving up to the rain forest and
stopped at the lodge at Lake Quinalt.
