Home Up Mercer Slough Captain Al

Al & Kathy's Boating Adventures

Our boating adventures began late in the season, just by chance.  Al had been talking about boating for a while.  Then one day, after a nice walk in a new Bellevue Park, we drove by a house selling what looked like the perfect little boat for us. See below.  The motor was added the next week when Al found the perfect little 3hp motor on Craigslist.

Al's New Hobby - His 8' Avon Inflatable Boat
Sunday on Lake Washington 9/11/2005

We went out in the little Avon boat a couple of times, but honestly, it was a little cramped for 2 adults.  So once again Al found a great buy on Craigslist (www.craigslist.org), a 12 foot inflatable boat with a wooden floor.  That's more like it!  Next he found the 15hp Taihatsu motor, a GPS, and a radio.  (ok, so he is a little obsessed :-)  Even though the weather is getting cold, a sunny weekend day will find us out in the boat.

Inflatable boats are great!

The benefits of an inflatable boat... load everything in the back of our pickup truck. 6 gallons of gas will drive our boat for hours with that nice 15 horse 2 stroke motor.

Mercer Slough boat ramp.  Al is placing the motor on the boat. All set up and ready to go.  The only thing missing is me... hey, don't leave without me!

14th Street ramp in Ballard, launching the Green Dragon on another warm late fall day. Captain Al is aboard and awaiting his First Mate.  Notice the upgrade in the First Mates seating.

Check back for more boating adventures as time goes along.  We are definitely hooked!
